SFT joins in appealing the America’s Cup E.I.R.
“Oracle Racing will have to wait for San Francisco lawyering before any America’s Cup planning can continue ahead of the planned 2013 races.
San Francisco’s plans to host the America’s Cup are on temporary hold after four different groups filed legal appeals late last week, according to the San Francisco Examiner.
The Planning Commission discussed the plans to transform the city’s waterfront and handle the traffic for the yacht races in 2013 on Thursday. On Friday, four groups — Telegraph Hill Dwellers, Golden Gate Audubon Society, San Francisco Tomorrow and Waterfront Watch — filed legal appeals of the city’s plans to allow development and traffic flow, according to the newspaper.
City agencies are now banned from taking any action on the project, from filing paperwork or approving construction — or anything else related to the America’s Cup until the Board of Supervisors hears the appeal, according to the newspaper.
The Board is expected to hear the appeal sometime in January, according to the newspaper.”
Subsequent to publishing of the above article, we have recently learned that the Appeal date has been set. It will will be heard by the Board of Supervisors on Monday, January 10, 2012, at 4 PM. Public Comment will be taken .
